Fall Race Training Program

18-week Race Training Program for a fall 5k or Half Marathon organized by Wrentham Runners, sponsored by Wrentham Recreation Department, and coached by Wrentham resident, Certified RRCA Coach, and Master ChiRunning Instructor Marc Waxman.   Participation is FREE with Wrentham Runners registration and is geared for runners of all abilities - especially beginners!

Sign Up is Easy and Free!

Step 1 -- Complete the Free Registration  to join Wrentham Runners (if you are not already an official member)

Step 2  -- Email Coach Marc at coachmarc113@gmail.com  to set up your free race training program and free use of the Final Surge training app.   Please include your name, target race distance, and any other information about your running experience and level.

Races

Target Race -- Harborside Half Marathon and 5k on Nov 10, 2024 in Newburyport, MA

The goal of the 18-week program is to train for a fall road race in Newburyport, MA -- either a half marathon (13.1 miles) or a 5k (3.1 miles).   You can sign up for either race here  and use the code Wrentham20 to get a 20% club discount on the registration fee.  We will look to organize carpools or group transportation from Wrentham on race day. 

 

Midway Checkpoint Race -- Wrentham Wroad Wrace 5k on September 7, 2024 in Wrentham, MA 

A 5k tune-up race on Wrentham Day in the middle of the training program to test your fitness and sustain your training motivation.

Organized Weekly Training Runs

Join along whenever you'd like for the run club's twice per week training runs, generally Wednesday night  at 6pm and Saturday mornings at 7am on a variety of road and easy trail courses.  You can check the run schedule here.   Program participants are encouraged to run the distance and pace with which they are comfortable, according to their individualized training plan, but there will be ample opportunity to join other runners for motivation, encouragement, and camaraderie.

FREE ChiRunning Workshop

Thursday July 11th & 18th 6:30pm-8:30pm at the Delaney School gym on Taunton St.

Bottom line - we know that getting expert instruction is essential for so many sports and activities - swimming, golf, tennis, yoga, soccer, baseball/softball, etc.  Yet, we don’t get this same type of support for running.  ChiRunning is the technique-based instruction that has been missing in your running experience.  

Wrentham is lucky to have one of the small number of Master ChiRunning Instructors in the world.  Coach Marc has taught 100’s of runners how to move their bodies the way they were designed - with efficiency and flow - allowing for “effortless”, injury-free running. 

Usually at least $150, participation in Coach Marc’s  Introduction to ChiRunning Workshop is free this summer for Wrentham Runners Club members.  Open to the first 15 people that register.  Email coachmarc113@gmail.com ASAP to save your spot.

FREE Final Surge Training App

Final Surge is a best-in-class app specifically designed for runners and running communities to track their workouts.  Free account for all Wrentham Runners Club members.  Final Surge is an online training log designed for athletes and coaches that streamlines workout management and enables easy synchronization and export of workouts to various platforms.  Additionally, it allows direct communication between coach and athletes as well as a “social team wall” for sharing with the training community.

FREE Expert Training Plans for All Ability Levels

All participants will have access to several levels of training plans developed by Coach Marc specifically for the November 5k and ½ Marathon.  These plans are accessed through Final Surge and are free to all Wrentham Runners Club members.   

18-week training program starts weekend of July 6th and continues thru Race Day on Nov 10th.

Want to “level-up” your training?  Coach Marc can customize your training plan to your specific goals and fitness by providing individualized week-to-week training plans in Final Surge.  After developing a plan based on a detail survey, Coach Marc will review your uploaded workout data on a regular basis and offer specific workouts to optimize your training.

50% off Private Coaching with Coach Marc (technique, performance, video analysis)

Coach Marc offers 1:1 or small group in-person coaching, including unlimited video analysis during 1-hour sessions scheduled at the convenience of individual runners.  Typically costing $99/hour, all Wrentham Runners Club members get this support for 50% off.  This type of support is especially effective for runners who have participated in an Introduction to ChiRunning Workshop.
